Research on the word "Dude"? read to believe it

I first read about it in Times Of India, Bangalore edition on 9th Dec. I was little taken back for a while, because i was thinking how can people devote there time for doing research on some weird topics. But what i got to read on the print was very little. Then later in the day when i hit my friend Jessica's blog on other side of the world, who also had blogged on this. Finally i got the link to the actual article on that research on 'DUDE'. May be the research was carried out by a linguistic Prof., i bet it is an interesting research on the word.

It looks like we get connected to many things by having friends all over the world, i guess that's the reason why they say it's a "Small World". The best part is that the Professor who has done this research also happens to be my friend's classmate during her Master's program.

Yep, it sure is a small world Vivek! We linguists actually do some fairly strange research... you would not believe some of the things I studied in graduate school! But then again, it was that linguistics program that allowed me to study Kannada, so...

And now look... talking about small worlds... when I was studying Kannada, I did not know any Kannadigas! Now, I seem to be meeting half of Bangalore thru blogging, and my Kannada is pitiful!

Nice post (says the biased linguist!) :)

Yeah Jess life is like that at times you get more than what you ask and at times we are left empty.

Don't I know it... don't I know it.

The fun world of dichotomies...
(seems an appropriate time to reference my "Idhu nanage beku... Idhu nanage beda." post on my blog! LOL!)

One more thing... one thing I really like is that because you have your time zone set appropriately to India, when I posted my previous comment... it posts as tomorrow! YAY! Cause it's only 9 PM here, but I suppose for you it's, what... 7:30 AM?

Hi,

I am hari from chennai. It is a real coincidence that I am a Sagittarian too and share the same ambition to become a philisopher one day.

Frankly i really did not know the exact meaning of the word "Dude". Do visit my blog whenever you are free at :

When did i say that u did't know life. You have know life better than me in some ways. I was just reminding you how life is, thats all ;).

Yup i have set my time zone to India, and i saw your comments which says posted on 15th Dec. But off late i am not getting the comments on my mail id, don't know what happened to blogger. Sometimes it goes crazy, the other day i read someone's blog where he says all the comments on a particular blog has vanished.

"Don't I know it..." is just a filler phrase... we say it as emphatic agreement... hee... more fun with linguistics! :)
